WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will explore strategies for weaving thematic math units into existing ESOL curricula, providing students with opportunities to explore and practice math and its relationship to financial literacy, work, daily life, and transitions to college. The presenter will illustrate how to connect math with language learning and reading comprehension.

This is a two-part workshop. Participants are asked to commit to both sessions.

PRESENTER:
Dorrie Nord
 is the ABE Coordinator at the Jamaica Plain Adult Learning Center Adult Education Program. She has been involved with statewide math professional development initiatives for many years and is the current recipient of a First Literacy Lab grant for integrating math into the ESOL program in Jamaica Plain.
